GenreShort Story

My short story is on the complexities of organ transplantation- from the organ's point of view. In the research presentation, KIR genes are discussed as genes that detect and attack infectious disease and foreign objects. This is why getting an organ that is a good match is so important. If it is not a good enough match, the organ is rejected as the KIR genes start to attack it. I also wanted to play on the idea of the kidney being the new organ in the body. It's always hard to be the new one in town with everyone judging you, but if you're a kidney, life depends on whether or not you fit in.
